Back to Basics

Welcome to Back to Basics., your source of reputable, no-B.S. nutrition information and education. My hope is that what you learn here is a breath of fresh air in a world of sometimes-confusing nutrition (mis)information.

I call my blog Back to Basics because I think that nutrition has gotten too inaccessible. Go on Instagram or Tiktok and you might believe you need to take pricy supplements or have your own personal infrared sauna or follow the latest fad diet to achieve a healthy lifestyle.

And yet, most of us don’t follow even the most fundamental nutrition and health advice. What if instead of one-off nutrition trends and fads we focused on an overall pattern of eating that encompassed balance and variety? What if we learned how to nourish our bodies in ways that were realistic and sustainable?

With that in mind, the information and education you find here will always be grounded in real science. That means that I promise to only provide evidence-based recommendations based on high-quality scientific research, broken down into actionable steps so that you can actually put that research into practice.

It also means that I won’t give one-size-fits-all advice, since nutrition should always be individualized to a person’s wants, goals, and needs. (This is probably a good time to make a disclaimer that I cannot provide individualized medical advice without a patient-provider relationship in place!)

With all that being said, let’s dive in!
